The Palace Hotel Southend & Grosvenor Casino Southend
An Edwardian seafront landmark with a casino floor on its ground floor, open all weekend.
The Palace has looked over Southend’s seafront since Edwardian days and now trades with IHG as The Palace Hotel Southend; Grosvenor Casino Southend holds the licence for its ground floor on Church Road, 24 hours from Friday to Sunday.
The Palace Hotel opened above Southend’s seafront in the Edwardian years and served as a naval hospital in the First World War before returning to hotel use. For years it traded as the Park Inn by Radisson Palace; in 2026 IHG lists it as The Palace Hotel Southend, an independent hotel “soon to be Garner Hotel”, with check-in at 3 pm, check-out at noon, guests aged 18 and over, one restaurant and a dog-friendly policy at £20 a night. The pier — the longest pleasure pier in the world — is a few minutes’ walk.
Grosvenor Casino Southend is licensed for “Ground Floor (Park Inn Palace), Church Road” — the register still carries the old hotel name, and it places the floor inside the hotel building. The casino opens from 10 am to 5 am from Monday to Thursday and around the clock from Friday to Sunday, with live gaming, slots, e-tables, a poker room, live sport, on-site parking and step-free access.
The casino keeps its own entrance. Southend Central station is eight minutes on foot with c2c trains to London Fenchurch Street.

How they connect
Under one roof. The casino floor is inside the hotel building. It may still have its own street door.
The Gambling Commission register records the casino premises as “Ground Floor (Park Inn Palace), Church Road” — the same building, under the hotel’s former name. The casino keeps its own entrance.
The pairing rests on the licensed premises address in the Gambling Commission public register.
